Curlew Ceramics
Handmade by Ali Lewis at her pottery studio in Yorkshire.
Ali is inspired by the natural world where she lives, on the edge of the Lower Derwent Valley National Nature Reserve. It is a wetland haven for wildlife, birds in particular, which are drawn to the unique flood meadows.
She named her pottery business after the Curlew birds, which nest in the meadows nearby and whose distinctive calls she can hear when working in her pottery studio.
The evidence of throwing lines and tool marks gives Curlew Ceramics their tactile charm and individuality.
